We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about recovery for an Outpatient Addiction Counselor position in our Adult Outpatient Program in Sioux City, Iowa.
The addiction counselor provides assessments, individual, group and family counseling for clients struggling with substance use disorders.

Job Requirements:
o Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, or related field (Master's degree second level license required for Therapist title;)o Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (tCADC/CADC) within 90 days of hiring.
Qualifications:
o Experience as a full-time substance use counselor or gambling treatment counselor preferred.
o Have received specific training or education related to problem gambling or will complete this training within in the first 3 months of hire.
o Public speaking experience (preferred).
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required.
o Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point and Outlook).
o Valid driver's license.
Essential
Responsibilities:
o Work hours prescribed by the Outpatient Director and any additional hours deemed necessary for the responsibilities assigned.
o Conduct individual assessment sessions for completion of comprehensive assessment histories of designated clients.
o Participate with direct supervisor in development of recommendations for patients and prepares assessment reports.
o Conduct individual, group, and family counseling and educational sessions consistent with client treatment plans.
o Develops and coordinates individual treatment plans with client, supervisor, and referral sources.
o Ensure that client service records are maintained consistent with rules and regulations.
o Complete online and paper form data reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
o Participates in coordination of community awareness concerning problem gambling.
o Present workshops, lectures and training to clients, families, staff, and community groups.
o Assists individuals and families with referral resources for services as needed.
o Provide a minimum of 10 hours of outreach and 10 hours of direct treatment services weekly.
o Provide crisis and intervention services and management of Your Life Iowa referrals during business hours.
o Attend monthly Iowa Department of Public Health meetings.

o Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of theories, principles, and techniques of problem gambling treatment.

o Serve as a role model and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing the agency.
o Assume other related responsibilities as delegated by management.
